History:
The gold rush town of Leydsdorp, once with a population of 5000 was proclaimed in 1891 when gold was first discovered in South Africa. The hotel was built in 1871, is the 2nd oldest in the Transvaal. Paul Kruger himself spent time at Leydsdorp, staying in his hunting lodge.
